Economic Situations affect pets too

Pets are dependent on us to take care of them. Some people are better than others at being pet owners, and some pets are more suited for certain people or households.

During the recession of the past few years many pets have been abandoned as people lose their homes. It's hard to take a pet with you when you have no idea where you're going. Another problem for pets is when they need shots, or grooming, and there's no money to pay for it. What happens to these pets?       People that lose their homes often move out in the middle of the night. I have been to homes that just about everything is left behind, including their pets. When families can no longer afford to pay their bills, or their mortgages, pets are often abandoned.

I remember the first Foreclosure I was hired to sell for a bank. I was told that the people had moved out, and the house was vacant. I drove to the house, got my camera, and started walking towards the side. As I got nearer to the rear fence a very angry sounding dog protested my intrusion onto the property. This surprised me, as the house was supposed to be vacant, so why was a dog in the yard?

I went back to the Office to call Animal Control, then went back to the house to await their arrival. It turned out there were 2 dogs abandoned, and one of them had recently had puppies.I felt bad for the dogs, why didn't the people take them with them? Did they plan on coming back? Didn't they know that once they abandoned the property that the Bank would secure it, and they could no longer get back in legally to get their pets?

Shelters are full of cats and dogs that have been abandoned because people could no longer afford to keep them.        What should pet owners do abot the pets? Whats the best advice for them they dont intentionally mean to harm thier pets. but they have to choose between eating or the pets sometimes or being homeless themselves. Its tough to think about but it does happen. This is why i believe banks should have a booklet on foster care agencies for pets realtors could call these agencies to pick the pets up. WOULD THAT NOT BE GREA IN A PERFECT WORLD?
